CMA is angry and disappointed that the package includes a 2.5% Medicare physician payment cut for 2023 and a 1.25% cut in 2024. While we were able to stop 6% of the 8.5% projected cut for 2023, it is extremely upsetting that in this environment, Congress is imposing a cut. CMA and AMA issued statements opposing the Medicare cuts because of the negative impact on the stability of physician practices and patient access to care. CMA has told our Congressional delegation that these cuts will cause irreparable harm to physicians and patients’ ability to get timely care.
